How many T-shirts do I need for a quilt?

Anywhere from 12 to 30 or more t-shirts will make a throw size to queen size quilt. You decide how many shirts you want to use and what size quilt you are interested in and we'll go from there.

Should I cut up the shirts?

No. Send me the t-shirts as is. Let me know what part of the shirt you want to use (front or back or both) by placing a safety pin in the shirt. If you don't care, I'll pick what I think is best.

Do all my shirts have to be the same size?

I need to be able to cut all the t-shirts into 14 1/2" squares or 12 1/2" squares to make a quilt that has all the same size blocks. If you have different size shirts, I can make what is called a "variable size t-shirt quilt" and the price for that depends on how many shirts we are using. Contact me for prices on this kind of quilt.

Should I wash them before I send them?

Please wash and dry them (even new ones) but don't use dryer sheets. Remember that any stains in your shirts will be in your quilt (I personally think this adds to the charm).

Can I have a border (s)?

Borders can be added. Check with me for cost and fabric needed.

Do I supply the fabric?

You can supply your own fabric (I'll tell you how much once I get the T-shirts cut out and stabilized) or I can supply it for you.

I want to order a T-shirt quilt. How do I start?

The first step to take is to contact Nana's Quilting on our contact page. Let us know what you'd like and how many T-shirts you've got. We'll coordinate the details over email or telephone, whichever works best for you.
