After 36 years of selling wire and cable (how fascinating is that), I am now fortunate enough to work from home, doing what I love. I work full time now making t-shirt quilts and love every minute of it. Every batch of shirts I receive has a different history and tell a different story, and I love turning them into a treasured quilt for my customer to have and enjoy for years and years. The T-shirt quilts evolved because early in my quilting career I had seen one done and I knew I wanted to do one for my granddaughter (she was only 2 at the time). I started stockpiling her t-shirts as she grew out of them and the first t-shirt quilt I made was for her. You can see that one in my Photo Gallery under Kayla's T-Shirt Quilt. I just think it's a great way to preserve your treasured t-shirts that you no longer wear but don't want to part with either.
